Senior Procurement/Inventory Manager

Full Ė Time Position

Job Description:

Thunder Scientific Corp., based in Albuquerque, NM, is the world's leading manufacturer of NIST-proven, two-pressure humidity calibration systems, and has an immediate opening for a full-time Senior Procurement/Inventory Manager. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent organizational, communication, computer, and administrative skills who possesses the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a high-paced professional environment..

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Working closely with members of Thunderís scientific, engineering, operations, production, and financial teams to address opportunities and challenges that can or should be addressed through sound acquisition planning practices
  • Manage vendor relationships, communications, and interactions
  • Continually seek out secondary sources of supply thereby ensuring the most effective stewardship of organizational resources
  • Review, assess, and distribute purchase requisitions to appropriate inventory team members
  • Build essential procurement policies and processes ensuring quality and compliance benchmarks are met
  • Analyze/identify department trends and provide solutions with the intended goal of creating effective ways to improve current department processes
  • Identify training needs and lead training efforts to promote quality and compliance within Procurement/Inventory policies and processes
  • Partner with other department managers to develop effective strategies to identify and minimize issues and risks
  • Working with supervision, prepare summary sheets of depleted inventory stock as well as damaged/unusable parts
  • Monitor inventory count reports provided by inventory team members with observed discrepancies between physical number versus system records
  • Maintain departmental records, files and other related correspondence
  • Assist team members with correcting observed discrepancies during inspection/verification of incoming shipments
  • Develop and implement continual process improvement practices as related to inventory management processes and procedures
  • Ensure stockrooms are kept tidy and clean
  • Utilizing Sage 50 software, oversee inventory count document changes (additions, deletions, and adjustments)
  • Provide training and oversight to team members ensuring accurate work tickets
  • Evaluate routine audit summaries and take necessary steps to correct partsí shortages and inconsistencies
  • Ensure obsolete inventory items are properly disposed
  • Direct team member reconciliation of inventory discrepancy efforts
  • Provide Safety Data Sheet/Material Safety Data Sheet information to organizationís safety department for ordered consumables, inventory items, etc.

  • Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelorís degree in relevant discipline plus 10 years or more experience, or equivalent experience and/or achievements
  • Proven track record of successfully managing subordinate personnel with little or no assistance from upper management
  • Often working without direct/constant supervision, ability to prioritize work assignments while maintaining extreme attention to detail; crucial for organizational success
  • Must possess a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Punctuality and reliability are essential
  • Must have strong oral/written communication skills
  • Possess a friendly outgoing attitude and strong willingness to help coworkers
  • Valid/current driverís license is required
  • Ability to speak Spanish is beneficial but not required
  • Capable of lifting 25 pounds and/or climbing a step ladder is routinely required
  • Able to stand and bend for long periods of time in stockroom/warehouse/office environment
  • Able to work overtime as required
  • Familiarity with Sage 50 software preferred but not required

  • Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Equivalent work experience, e.g., Senior Strategic Buyer
  • Possess relevant certifications such as CPSM, CPSD, PMP, etc.
